OKI at Wensco Sign Supply

oki
On Thursday, December 12th OKI came to visit Wensco in Grand Rapids for a demo day. The day was filled with getting familiar with OKI Printers, software, and more! With a lunch break in the middle, this hands-on training offered an in-depth look into the powdered fueled machines that make heat transfer work easier than ever. The OKI training was provided by David and he showed the ins and outs of what makes the OKI worth it.

Inner Workings
The in-depth training let everyone get familiar with how to ‘take it all apart’ and put it back together. There was several ‘dos and don’ts’ when it came to where to hold the parts and how to clean them. While handling the OKI’s, David noted the differences in the OKI printers and equipped Wensco with essential knowledge for guiding consumers. Every member in attendance handled each part and was guided from inner belts to power on to working the printer’s screen. From there it was a matter of calibration and how to assist future customers to make their printer as close to color perfect as possible, so that no job suffers through discoloration. The ease of all these steps, and the simple maintenance, made the first part of the OKI demonstration fly by.

Programs That Make It Go
Making the OKI print and the capability of what you could print revolved around what software you wished to run. Between drivers and rips, Wensco received a full course on differences, why you would choose one of the other, and a beginner’s guide on how to use them. Everything needed to introduce someone to the heat press process. The nitty gritty of the software and its specs was broken down in bite size pieces. After the software was covered, the team was ready to try and print and press their designs.

Finishing Products
Picking out simple designs the team used the software and sent their masterpieces to the OKI to print. This last part of the training equipped the Wensco team in knowing how to print and press their own shirts and how to guide an upcoming owner the final steps of what the OKI was meant for. Wensco was also taught different styles of printing, including using foil, and the various types of substrates that can be used with heat transfer materials. The heat transfer materials featured was the Forever Laser Dark, Forever Laser Light, and Magic Touch CPM. After each person had a turn with the heat press, the demo came to a close.

The OKI demonstration provided greater understanding to Wensco on the heat transfer side of business and the inner workings of OKI. The printer had great capabilities in making the custom t-shirt business a breeze. A thank you to OKI for providing the Wensco team with an abundant knowledge to pass on and guide customers in what they want and need.
